Montessori Spring Bundle

Montessori Spring Bundle
This bundle includes:
1. Parts of a Honey Bee Booklet (M): Have master available. Child can color, label (by tracing or writing on their own), cut and staple into a booklet.
2. Honey Bee Extension Activities (L):
Bee Poem Poster: Print and hang this poster at child’s height. Recite and memorize this sweet poem. It is taken from the beginning of the book The Beeman by Laurie Krebs, which ought to be included in your study as well.
The Bee Book: The children can color, cut, staple and read this early reader. I have included a color version for you to use as an example as well.
Bee Game: Use a die to fill the honeycomb cells with eggs. This is a great way to practice counting, 1-1 correspondence, and turn taking. I recommend printing at least two boards on card stock and laminate for extended use. For added fine motor practice, use yellow modeling clay or playdough to form the eggs. You can also use pebbles, glass gems, or pompoms. Play until the cells are all full and then play again!
Cluck, Cluck Red Hen Lyrics and Puppets: This Raffi song is a wonderful one to sing while studying farm animals and, of course, honeybees. Print the animals on card stock, have the children color or paint them, cut them out and tape them to craft sticks to create puppets to use while singing the song. There is a colored in version included as well. Check out my IGTV for a video of the song (@bluebirdmontessori)
Honey Butter Recipe: This is a simple and tasty honey recipe!
Flower Pinpricking Template: Print this on a variety of color construction paper and have available with a thick piece of felt and large pushpin.
3. Insect Tracing (M): There are three insects featured in this tracing packet. I like to print all on cardstock and laminate (this is a must). I hang the colored in “masters” in the room for inspiration. Make available the uncolored templates, tracing paper, clothespins for clipping them together, a sharpie if you please (I do!), and watercolor paints for extra fun.
4. Song of the Bugs Poem and Extension (L): This poem is a wonderful one to recite and memorize. This file includes a poster to hang that illustrates the poem and an extension activity. Using the poem, encourage the children to come up with other words that describe what bugs do, I have included a few to get you started. Using these newly generated words, children can create a poem book of their own.
5. Life Cycle of a Butterfly (M): This includes a master sheet, a student cut and paste sheet (no writing) and a student cut/paste/write sheet.
6. Bird Tracing (M): There are four birds featured in this tracing packet. I like to print all on cardstock and laminate (this is a must). I hang the colored in “masters” in the room for inspiration. Make available the uncolored templates, tracing paper, clothespins for clipping them together, a sharpie if you please (I do!), and watercolor paints for extra fun.
7. Backyard Bird Cards (for Toob): These cards can be printed twice and used for visual matching. They can be printed by themselves and used as a simple Language activity. They correspond to the bird Toob and can be used for object to picture matching. Printing at 100% scale is recommended - they are made to be evenly cut with no paper waste and can be cut into quarters equalling 4.25”x5.5”.
8. Backyard Bird Scavenger Hunt (M): This scavenger hunt, or “write the room” activity can be used in school settings or at home! Print the large pictures/label page in color on cardstock. Laminate if you want/if possible (this allows them to be taken down and put back up over and over again!). Use a paper cutter to separate large labels into rectangular signs and “hide” around your space. I like using bluetac for this (the BLUE kind works best!). If you are in an environment where many children will be excited to use this - I find it helpful to limit how many can use it at a time by displaying a stack of the list papers with however many clipboards and pencils you think are appropriate. (In my classroom of 30 - I have two clipboards available). Children “find” the large labels around the room and copy the words down on their list paper. Print to Fit.
9. Seed Identification Cards (M): Includes wheat kernels, sunflower seeds, celery seeds, black eyed peas, black beans, apple seeds, pumpkin seeds, corn kernels and chickpeas. Ideally print on cardstock, cut into quarters. Have small containers filled with like seeds for object to picture matching.
10. Seeds Scavenger Hunt (M): This scavenger hunt, or “write the room” activity can be used in school settings or at home! 11. Flower Tracing (M): There are four flowers featured in this tracing packet. I like to print all on cardstock and laminate (this is a must). 12. Life Cycle of a Plant (M): This includes a Master sheet and a student sheet for cutting/pasting and writing.
13. Farm Animal Tracing (L): I recommend printing these onto cardstock and laminating. Put them in your Language area with tracing paper and clips to hold the papers together. Provide markers for tracing on the lines. Consider a Sharpie marker and watercolor paints. You can also use these as coloring/painting sheets. There are 4 animals included.
14. Parts of a Chicken (L): Print and laminate the master copy. Present the blank copy with coloring supplies, scissors and glue.
15. Farm Animal Riddles (L): Print onto cardstock, laminate, and cut out these cards. Read the riddle to the child and have them figure out the answer. 10 riddles included.
16. Farm Animal Word Problems (L): Print, laminate and cut. This is a great activity for an adult to do with children or for a reader to do on their own. Keep the corresponding counters in their own containers for easy access. Read word problem, child uses counters to solve. Comes with 12 word problems (6 addition and 6 subtraction) and 6 sets of 10 counters.
