Philosophy

I use the term “crafting your classroom” to describe not only how we prepare our physical surroundings but how we prepare ourselves to be the best parents and educators that we can be. Some synonyms for craft are ARTISTRY, EXPERTISE, TALENT, FLAIR, and SKILL. I believe we bring our craft to our children and students by showing up each day with intention and awareness, by feeding our passions, and by creating the most enticing learning environments possible. The standard definition of classroom is “a room, typically in a school, in which a class of students is taught.” I am throwing that definition out the window! The WORLD is our classroom and we are learning all day, every day, where ever we are.

I think it’s important to show our children the beauty in handmade, in nature, and the act of creating with our hands. Drawing on my 17 years as a parent and 12 years in a Montessori classroom, I will share with you ideas, lessons, projects, and items for your homes that I have used successfully both at my home and in my Montessori early childhood program, Bluebird Montessori.

I try to live my life with as much fun, color, dancing, and laughter as possible, that makes the hard bits a little easier. I am so glad you are here!
