Geology Extensions Bundle
Geology Extensions Bundle
Use these materials to compliment your geology studies.
Here is what is included:
Cutting Strips: Print and cut into strips. Have them available with scissors, a bowl, and envelopes for the cut pieces. Find my cutting envelopes under “extras.”
My Gem Book: The children can color, cut, staple and read this gem themed book. There are two different versions for you. I recommend laminating a completed copy as an example.
Vocabulary Cards: Print and laminate these definition cards for reference.
Geology Lab: This file includes materials for setting up a “lab.” It includes a sign, a banner, an ID badge for the children to make and put on a string to wear, a documentation sheet for rock observations, and color cards to reference when filling out the sheet.
I recommend setting this area up with an assortment of rocks and gems, a microscope or magnifying glass, a scale, drawing materials, and reference books.
Gemstone Game: Print, laminate all pages, and tape together the game board. Pair with dice and a couple of game pieces. The children take turns traveling through the cave collecting rocks and gems. If you have gems that match the ones included then consider incorporating them into the game as well.
To make the game a little more challenging for those ready for it, use a (+) (-) die as well. If you roll a (+) you move forward and a (-) you move backwards.
Gemstone Scavenger Hunt: The colored labels can be printed, laminated, and hung around the room. Child can walk around the room with the documentation sheet on a clipboard to write the words as they are found. Alternatively they can be used with the Moveable Alphabet. We do an exercise called “Read. Spell. Write.” There are blank labels included for cursive writing and/or laminating to use with dry erase marker.
