Applying Lotion

Connecting children with the ability to care for their own bodies is a crucial component in Montessori environments. This activity, while simple, is powerful!

A square white dish and a transparent screw top vessel will have your children eager to have a turn applying lotion. The adults control the amount of lotion (not included) that goes in the vessel and models very specific and consistent actions when demonstrating how we apply lotion. 

This is a great activity to have on your shelf throughout the year - in the fall when children are still learning the ground rules of the community, in the winter when their skin is dry and in need of lotion, and into the spring where sunscreen begins to be needed outside.
