About Us

My name is Leah (she/her).

I am the founder and head teacher at Bluebird Montessori, a small program that supports children ages 3-6 and their families. I live in upstate New York with my husband, our two adolescent children, two cats, and a handful of chickens. I completed my Montessori training at Northeast Montessori Institute and am a certified teacher through the American Montessori Society (AMS). I have a background in visual and performing arts and hold a BA from Bennington College. I am passionate about handcrafting materials for family and classroom learning, and inspiring a joyful life. I have presented workshops to Montessori educators titled “Crafting Your Classroom” at the national AMS conference in Chicago and at the CMS regional conference in Cincinnati.

And my name is Kate (she/her).

After being in Montessori environments with children for over twenty years, I have recently shifted to working with adults full time as the Assistant Program Director at Northeast Montessori Institute. I have worked in infant, toddler, and early childhood Montessori communities and am deeply committed to helping adults create beautiful spaces where children are able to discover their independence and agency. I am both AMI-credentialed (0-3) and AMS-credentialed (3-6). I live in New Hampshire with my husband and a few of our four children. The things that bring me joy outside of my family and Montessori are reading, sewing, paddle boarding, and walking in the woods.
